Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce says net zero by 2050 is not going to be legislated which was approved by the Nationals party room after several days of negotiations and discussions I think its incredibly important that we set the goal because that is the decision of the party room and as that process goes forward people will determine the actions Mr Joyce told Sky News Australia The prime minister has clearly said its going to be with technology and with that technology as it develops as it gets proved up it becomes more efficient Where we are right now is ahead whether you call it a goal a target whatever word you want to use were ahead of that but what I can say weve managed to ahead of that by not putting people out of the job by not putting in a carbon tax by not shutting down coal mines Mr Joyce said the National party has asked the regions to pay no price for committing to a net zero emissions target as that was their priority while going into negotiations to safeguard regional Australia Weve made sure that that in our discussions the regions will be in the same place or better weve sure that there is no basically inflection or caveat thatll effect coal mining to supply the global demand
